    Question shopping carts

I am a happy jag client and a graphic designer (not a programmer, per se.) I have a client that is looking for hosting for an ecommerce site, and I'm promoting JaguarPC, but another service (host4profit.com) offers a shopping cart as part of their package. Your price is much lower, but other than the cart, the features are comparable.

Do you offer such a thing? This will be my first ecommerce site, so any advice on what to use as far as carts and payment methods, etc. would be much appreciated. I would rather use jag since I have had great help from customer service.

There are a couple of shopping carts available through CPanel on all of the JPC plans. I don't have experience with any of them, but one in particular, osCommerce, I've heard good things about.

One word of note about the cpanel-installed scripts, though: the CPanel scripts are usually not up to date. The installers are useful for testing a product out to see if it will meet your needs, but before you go live with a site you should consider updating to the most recent version available on the publisher's website.

Also, I would suggest going with a v200 or better plan for an e-commerce site. These plans come with (at least for now) dedicated IP addresses. If you want to use your own secure certificate on the site (highly recommended) you'll need a dedicated IP address. The secure certificate allows you to accept encrypted "https" transactions when the customer sends sensitive information, such as a credit card number. JPC allwos you access to their secure certificate, but the URL of secure pages will be something.nocdirect.com or something.u-build-it.net, which can look suspicious to a customer. Buying your own certificate allows you to use your own domain name. Certificates range from about $50/year to over $1000/year.

You can get one from Jag. Contact support and tell them you want to purchase
a SSL certificate. At least that's what I did. &nbsp:
