Can't connect to db (SQL down?)

    Please help!

My website is hosted on Iridium.

It was working perfectly some hours ago.
I haven't changed anything recently and now i get pages full of errors like this:

Warning: mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server

Is this problem being worked on or is it something i need to change on my side?

Did you guys check the network status page when you got this error? It sounds like MySQL went completely down on that server as opposed to the "symlink problem" that many of us have encountered (a different error message). Anyway, when something stops working on your account, check the network status page to see if that service is reported as down. If so, support has been notified automatically. If it still shows green, open a support ticket for a faster response than posting here.

Alternate point of view: The network page doesn't tell you squat when it comes to common MySQL problems here. My site, for instance, is 100% dependent on MySQL and when it flakes out, the network page is always showing green, i.e. tech support doesn't know there's any problem...

Put another way, when you see your MySQL is not working, don't bother looking at the network status page, or posting here. Contact support immediately via the ticket system. It's the only way you will get your MySQL working again.

Additionally, you might consider making a script that detects when MySQL is down. That's what I did. When someone comes to my site, and MySQL is spazzing out, it displays a screen saying, "Sorry, Lenon.com is temporarily offline, but will be back shortly. Please return in a few minutes" yada, yada, yada...
