    SubDomain Issues

so i have some directories that go on for a while so i deced to try out some subdomains. the first one i made worked out fine but after that things go ary:

i made a subdomain something like "weblog".

i get a confirmation that weblog.mydomain.com has been created.

when i go to direct it somewhere i get this confirmation:

"weblog_mydomain.com.mydomain.com will now point to yada yada."

instead of seeing what i want: "weblog.mydomain.com will now point to yada yada."

what am i doing wrong here? i have tried different title lengths for the subdir name and also tried pointing to to dirs and files and still nada.
    any help?
    thanks a bucnch,
    cheers,
    nate

just a thought, after the resolution goes through, few days or so, do you think the name will fix?

however it will funaction as "YOURSUBDOMAIN.YOURMAINDOMAIN.COM"

The default action for subdomains is for them to serve the content in a directory with the same name as the subdomain name. So your weblog subdomain will serve content from public_html/weblog.

The redirection features are optional. They allow you to map a subdomain to a different URL. Say for instance that you were selling the products of ABC Company as a reseller through your site. ABC Company gives you a customized website on their server with a URL like http://www.abccompany.com/resellers/...s/yadda/yadda. You want to advertise your offerings off-line, but you don't want to give out that long address. In this case you can create a products subdomain and then direct it at your ABC Company site. Then you advertize the friendly products.yourdomain.com instead of the long thing. Unless you want this kind of behavior you do not need to enter anything for the redirect. (ie: If the content you want to serve through the subdomain is on your server, don't set anything for the redirect.)

Another thing to note is that sometimes subdomains won't resolve for a day or two because of DNS propagation issues. If this becomes a problem for you you can ask support to enable wildcard domains for your site. With wildcards enabled <anything>.yourdomain.com will resolve to your site's IP address. If you have a subdomain configured for <anything> it will serve the subdomain content. If you don't you'll get your main homepage.
