A good way to get into Google is to have other sites link to you. Those links are followed by googlebot, hey presto.

The search engines will eventually find your site. How they rank your site
depends on the relevancy of your site to the search term the user uses.
In the last few months Google (which in my opinion) is the most
important search
engine to be listed with is going through some major changes.
I've lost ranking with pages that held the top 5 position for at least 2 years.
I've had other pages rise to the top 5.
If you need a quick start you should consider pay-per click search
engines such as Overture, Findwhat, or one or more of the others.
It looks to me like the future for e-commercs sites is going to be
pay-per click search engines.
