    Question Creating a FORUM

How do I go about creating a stand alone FORUM on our website. The site is being hosted by Aletia and I do not expect to generate a lot of traffic with this forum

    Thanks

Well, first, you need to find some forum software. There are tons of programs out there, including phpBB, vBulletin (which this board runs), IkonBoard, YaBB, the list goes on and on. They work in a similar way. Some are free, some cost money. Everyone you ask will tell you why their favorite is better than the rest. Your best bet is to try a couple and see which one you like the best.

To get you started, there are a few borads that you can install from the CPanel. If you aren't familiar with setting up complex scripts, you might want to try those first.

As a side note, I can help with YaBB installation. I am a developer of it.

Whatever you do, stay far FAR away from the provided XMB Board software. Both phpBB and Invision are provided from the cPanel and both are excellent forum systems (though I'd personally recommend phpBB, but you know what they say about people's opinions...)
