This is where it is found on Neutron:
    Code:
    $ whereis mogrify
    mogrify: /usr/bin/mogrify /usr/X11R6/bin/mogrify /usr/bin/X11/mogrify /usr/man/man1/mogrify.1
It's probably the same on 'your' server...

Whatever works for you... Are you sure you aren't using GD? That's what CPG uses by default...

    Last things first... Thank you!

I'm a mover 'n' shaker, or so 'they' say, but it's still nice to read a modicum of appreciation from time-to-time. Sure, I have ppl from 50 countries a day on my website, and I know the #1 draw is the gallery, so I know ppl like them, but hell, pictures are universal and most of the visitors don't speak English, so I have to draw my pleasure from statistical analysis. Gawd, what a life!

I'm alternately classified as a "Designer" and/or "PHP Oracle", depending on whom you listen to; take your pick. I'm also called, asshole, prick and so forth, but 'that' is all part of 'it', isn't it?

I like what I like, and I have the critical thinking skills to make it happen. So, to me, it's as simple as that. Personally, I think I am rather ordinary, but ppl keep humpin' my leg, wanting something for nothing. If they had to pay, they couldn't afford me, so I give it up for free. Call me a fool, if you will. Others do, but they're the fools. "Acting is believing..."

I've been on edge, a little, the last few days because I'm releasing some software. This always happens. Those friggin' bugs --- those POS SOB's --- you can look at code for months and never see them until you release something. Makes me want to kill. Guess you have to be there...

    Anyway, thank you!

Forget all the bullsh!t you've read. I can boil it down for you real quick.

GIF compression is propietary. That means, 'they' can sue you for using GIF compression unless you give 'them' money. As an individual, you don't have to worry about getting sued, but software dev's are in a different boat.

GD gets around this by NOT creating GIF images at all - no support for GIF's - and nobody goes to jail. Simple pimple, those cowardly bastards!

IM creates GIF's, but it DOES NOT use compression. That's how they keep their tits out of the wringer. So, when you process GIF images with Coppermine using IM, the friggin' thumbnails are larger in size than the actual pictures themselves, but at least Coppermine will process GIF's using IM, unlike GD.

So, the choice for you is simple. If you want to display GIF's in Coppermine, use IM, pure and simple. If you don't plan to display GIF's in Coppermine, just use GD.

    Make sense?

Okay, gotta run... I gotta go kill some bugs before the sun comes up.

BTW, I use IM whenever possible. I don't like cowards...

    Hi Vin DSL,

so, you are into writing programs. It's a painstaking job huh! Wow, your site is famouse. I am not sure when mine will have any visitors.

About IM. Thanks for explaining the difference. Right now, I don't have any gif file. I guess staying with GD is fine then.

Thanks again and Hope you find the bugs
