    Sessions getting destroyed randomly

    Hi,
I have set up a shopping cart on www.original-remote-control.co.uk

Its not working properly as sessions keep getting destroyed on their own at random. Some times it works for a few pages and then gets destroyed. Most often session gets reset on every page and as a result shopping cart is lost.

Strangely I get this problem when testing from one PC (win 98, IE 6.0) but not on the other (win xp, IE 6.0).

More strangely the same code works OK for both my PCs when I test the scripts from my development server - it has PHP Version 4.1.2

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    regards
    Jas

PS: I am working with default setup provided by JaguarPC.

I browsed your site just fine. I even added some products to the cart and then I proceeded to browse some page and the session didn't destroy... Maybe it's a problem on the computer you're testing your script instead of your script or Jaguar PC.

    Thanks for testing Julian.
Its really strange problem. I just asked a friend to test and he reported the same problem on his computer also.

My PC and My dev server - OK
My notebook and my dev server - OK
My notebook and jaguar server - OK
My PC and jaguar server - PROBLEM (I tested with IE 6 and Opera 7 and both had the same problem)

Its really strange and some thing I have encountered for the first time in my 5 years of PHP programming.

I used your cart to add a couple of items without loosing them. What I noticed was when adding an item the cart did not change pages to show that the item had been added. If you clicked the view cart link at the top of the page then you could view the contents of the cart.

You may be aware of this but you do not have all your product descriptions in the data base. The first item I added did not show the product description. The second item added did show the description.

    Used IE 6 to check.

It sounds like it could be a cookie problem. Make sure you have them enabled in the browsers on the computer that you are having problems with. Also, if you are running firewall software on that computer, make sure that it isn't "eating" them.

Speaking of cookies, you might set the session length higher...
