    Username/Password Mismatch?

Hey, I'm new... I just registered my webpage yesterday but I am most definately please with how jaguar has their services set up. But I'm having a problem getting my POP email accounts to work with my email program.

I checked my settings, and I set the servers to the right names and have my username and password info entered correctly. When I attempt to connect to the account it returns a message saying:

    "Username/Password Mismatch perhaps jason@yourdomain.com ?."

My program tells me that my username/pass OR my security settings might wrong, but I don't see where the problem is. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

    ~Jason

A shot in the dark, but are you using the full email address as your username?

For your host name you should be using mail.yourdomain.com or yourdomain.com, or, if your domain name isn't resolving yet you can use servername.nocdirect.com (which you can find when you log in to CPanel) or use the IP address that your welcome email should have specified.

If you are trying to use the default mail account, which is the same as the username that you were given to access CPanel, ftp, etc., use just that as your username. If it is an account that you've created use the full address (user@yourdomain.com). If your mail client won't accept the full address, try replacing the @ with a +.

Your password for the default account is the same as whatever you use to access CPanel. For accounts you'e set up it is whatever you entered when you created the account.

For sending mail (SMTP), use the same host as for checking (POP3). Make sure that you tell your mail client that the server requires authentication (how you do that varies with every client) and use the same username and password as you do for POP3. Some ISPs don't allow SMTP traffic outside of their networks, so you have two options--use your ISP's SMTP server or use your server with SSL (secure sockets layer, the same type of security that protects secure web connections).

Not all mail clients support SSL-based SMTP. If your does, enable the option. You'll need to change the SMTP port from 25 to port 465. For best results you should use servername.nocdirect.com as the host name (otherwise you might get certificate warning messages because the name on the certificate that does the encryption doesn't match the name you are use to access the server. Then you should be able to send mail without a problem.

This addresses the most common problems people have with mail. If you continue to have trouble, you'll probably want to open a support ticket.
