    Arrow Spam Bam Bam

Well, I've been receiving a lot of spam messages like most other users do. The main problem is that most of these spam messages have attachments (around 171k each). Downloading all these e-mails can sometime take quite a while. Is there anyway I can safeguard against such attachment-spam mails?

It could have been convenient with a IMAP account since SpamAssasin can mark the messages and then I can only download the mail headers first to check which messages are relevant and delete all others from the client itself. Unfortunately, POP3 doesn't seem so usable in this case. BTW, I'm using MS Outlook as my mail client.

Hmmm ... any solution in sight?!?!

Your account should also support IMAP access. I access my account at work with Outlook via IMAP and I've never had a problem. Also, consider enabling the Spam Box (on the SpamAssassin page of Cpanel) which will cause your spam to go to a spam folder instead of your inbox so it won't get downloaded when you download your mail with POP.

Here's my suggestion. May not be practicle for you but works for me. I don't use SpamAssassin . I use Mail Washer to preview mail. I deleate the spam and other unwanted mail and then downlaoad what I want to receive.

If the Spam is comming into a specific pop 3 account set filters for the e-mail you want to receive and forward that e-mail to another account.

Get Rid of your catchall all account. Set the catchall account to :discard: . That will automatically deleate all e-mail to that account. The catchall account is probably where you are getting most of your Spam From......
