    DNS issues and a question

I recently switched server here at jag. I have my DNS host (if that's what you call it) at netwrok solutions. I have had my domain name pointed to the DNS server here at jag ns.nocdirect.com and ns2.nocdirect.com.

So after the server transfer Jag changed their DNS to point my new server. sounds good right? Well I have had nothing but problems for a full WEEK. My local ISP has gone back and forth every day between the new server and old server. This also happens to about 90% of the other users and it's not all the same. Some can view the site, some can't.

Here's my question. I picked up a dedicated IP of 69.73.173.xxx and I'm going to go into Network Solution DNS manager and plug that IP intot hte A Record. Does this sound right? I thought I knew what DNS is all about until this stuff started showing up. I've never had DNS issues for a WEEK. So I figured I'd remove the middle man and poit straight to my IP.

    Thoughts... Suggestions....

using NSol DNS will do nothing if you have your nameserver records set to jag servers

as of right now your a record states

    Answer:

    Domain Type Class TTL Answer
    galleywinter.com. A IN 14400 69.73.173.243
    galleywinter.com. NS IN 14400 ns.nocdirect.com.
    galleywinter.com. NS IN 14400 ns2.nocdirect.com.
    ns.nocdirect.com. A IN 14400 69.73.130.223
    ns2.nocdirect.com. A IN 14400 69.73.132.223

    whics is directed to Jag

Doing ISP DNS lookup shows not cache for you so there should not be a problem there

all Tracing both from my Local Machines and a few proxies all go to Jaguar

whith that said DNS progation is no instant, 3-4 days is long but not unheard of depending on the ISP cache rate

With the exceptions of some mismatched serials in the SOA (not really a problem anyway), your DNS looks fine to me. I'd leave it alone.

You're probably tried of reading this, but I once had a lazy !#@% ISP that changed their zone files about once a month, or whenever 'they' thought about it. There isn't a thing you can do about this except grit your teeth...

LoL! I've told this story 100 times here, but I just realized, 'they' went out of business years ago...
