    Re: adobe photoshop

If this is a new phenomenon, then it's possible that you had an incomplete program shutdown and an incorrect setting was written to a configuration file. I've observed this behavior in other programs. If it's a problem that has existed ever since you installed the program, it could be a permissions issue. A shared computer install will allow the administrator access to all program features and manipulations while disallowing other regular users from doing the same. The caveat here is that I haven't used v7.0 so these may not apply at all.

Better idea would be to check out Adobe's website FAQs and end user help forums. This type of stuff gets addressed there all of the time.

Try just deleting the prefs.js file, then restarting PS. You'll have to do all the brushes and other stuff again, but it should be the last time.

In addition to the adobe forums, try http://photoshoptechniques.com/forum and look for the General section. You should get some answers there, too.

here's something from the PS CS help file:

    * Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after launching Photoshop or ImageReady. You will be prompted to delete the current settings.
    * In Mac OS, open the Preferences folder in the Library folder, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

It should work for v. 7.* also.

and the extension for the prefs file is not *.js (was thinking of something else). i'll see if I can find where they stuck it for 7
