Inquiry re upgrade to Giga deal

    Hello,

I just opened a ticket to get an official answer, but this issue is very important to me so I am also asking about your personal experience.

I am wondering whether this upgrade might affect any account settings. My main concern is e-mail. Right now, all our POP3 accounts can be accessed with just username (i.e., without domain name part). I would like to make sure all mail accounts will work without any setting changes.

If any of you had to make any changes to e-mail settings after upgrading to Giga deal, please do let me know.

    Thanks!

    gerilya,

Absolutely no problems. Just enhanced capacities and expanded limits. Email "transitioned" (my quotes) fine for me.

Only thing I had to worry about was having SSH access re-enabled since I was an Aletia customer on an Aletia plan (and CPanel skin) moving to a Jag skin.

    Thank you for your replies!

    Thanks for your input, guys

I am not familiar with CPanel internals, so I wanted to double check that losing IP address wont affect anything.

I will give it a try then.

You are grandfathered (thanks, JAG!), and therefore you will be allowed to keep your dedicated IP as well. Be sure to ask.

Yes, no problems from my end with the upgrade. Kept the dedicated IP and everything. Just like Ron, I lost SSH access, but I opened a ticket and it was fixed before I even got out of the ticket system.

If you use SSH (which I'm sure you do since you are among the more technical users on the boards), just ask that they keep it enabled when they do the upgrade and you should have zero downtime.

The upgrade was smooth, but I am sorry I don't get e-mail notifications from this board because I didn't realize I could keep my IP, so I didn't ask.
Any chance of getting it back? That would be nice.

The upgrade does not change the IP address. If you lost the unique IP it's from a different reason. Please fill out a support ticket if you think the IP has changed and we will help you out right away.

Thank you for your comment, Justin.

I kinda *assumed* I lost IP address because it's not part of Giga deal. The domain still resolves to the same IP, but that doesn't guarantee this IP is not used by others.

    I refer to Ron's post:

If it's possible to keep dedicated IP, we would definitely like to do so. Could someone clarify this?

    Thank you.

That's a good point. Yes, the IP address would remain issued to your account. When we upgrade the account to let's say, the Gigadeal, everything stays the same (including IP address), we just change the disk and BW quotas in cPanel. Ron is right Shell access always turns off ( by default) when upgrading or downgrading an account, so just let us know you need shell enabled. You can fill out a support ticket and we can look at the account to let you know if you have the unique IP.
