    Domain name as add on

    Hi there,

I am not sure if this works - if you have an add-on domain (multiple domains) can you change the directory name without breaking stuff? ie

SAy I have added the domain name widget.com to subdomain widget.themes.co.nz

Say if I have decided to redo the site widget.com(widget.themes.co.nz) and I have made another folder called widgetprototype/ to make the new site in while leaving the old one active. OK I have done the prototype site and it kicks ass so now I decide to change it over to widget.themes.co.nz by doing this:

wiping the orignal (or changing name) folder widget and changing the name of folder widgetprototype to widget.

So now the folder will work as the old widget.themes.co.nz, right? ie be active when I put widget.com as the url (theoretically)

    Thanks for any advice

I'm no expert but this doesn't sound like it would work. I believe that the multi-hosted domain has to point to a subdomain, not just a folder with the correct name. I'm sure someone who (really) knows will chime in here. I would open a ticket and ask support if they can do this for you when the time comes. Otherwise you could move the files when all is working right (assuming they are built with relative links).

As long as you rename the prototype directory to the exact same name as the original it should work. I've moved stuff around like this before and haven't had a problem.

Yes, it will work just like Jason said. The subdomain data itself just needs to be in the folder named widget when it comes down to it. All the other subdomain info is located in httpd. conf as you most likely know, so just rename the folder and delete the old widget folder or rename it and you will be fine..
