    subdomains

i just tried creating a new subdomain.. all went well (not much can go wrong.. but you get me) until i tried going to it. i get a "page cannot be displayed/cannot find server" error. and once even a stupid msn search.

the past 3 subdomains i've tried to create, took about 5 tries each. When my domain was brand new i acquired my first hostee, and the subdomain worked beautifully first try. why in the world aren't they working the first time?

I've had a similar experience -- when I've added a subdomain, sometimes it resolved instantaneously, other times, it took the standard 24-72 hours to resolve.
Go figure. Frustrating as all heck when you do something the same way twice, and get different results.

yea, i kinda needed it working quickly so i opened a support ticket. apparently there were configuration errors.. considering i used the subdomain thing in cPanel.

If there are "configuration errors", they are most probably configuration errors in DNS and have nothing to do with CPanel.

First thing to check is whether your subdomain resolves correctly to the same IP address your main domain resolves to.
Here is a helpful link: http://www.dnsstuff.com/

The reason why it might work for one domain and not to work for another is because DNS records for some domains contain 'wildcard' while DNS records for other domains contain a separate A/CNAME record for each subdomain.
