Question from a newbie, please help

OK, I just registered a webhosting account with aletia, but I already have a domain name hosted elsewhere, the thing is.... I read there is a $9.95 charge to get your domain transfered to aletia and I don't want to pay to get it transfered.... could I leave my domain name over at the place I registered it and just have the nameservers changed to aletia's? Will that work?

Yes, that will work fine. Just change the nameservers listed with your registrar to ns1.aletia.com and ns2.aletia.com, ns.jaguarpc.net and ns2.jaguarpc.net, or any two (or more) servers listed on the support page. Many of us here don't use AletiaNic as our registrar.

For the record, though, if you do want to change registrars to AletiaNic, there is a $9.95 transfer charge, but when you make the transfer they automatically add an additional year to your registration, so you aren't really loosing anything.

Thanks alot, jason! I really did want to transfer my domain to AletiaNic, but when I saw you could only pay with a credit card thoughts about having an additional year to the domain registration went down the drain.
