    borrett.id.au Review

    G'day...

Since switching to web hosting with Jaguar a few months back, I decided to do a makeover of my personal web site at http://www.borrett.id.au

I also made use of my new found access to scripting and MySQL to add a customised advanced guestbook and phpBB forums.

I've tried a new interface with a DHTML menu that allows navigation direct to all major pages, plus a right-side link-based navigation structure as backup.

Traffic is still extremely variable. There are periods where the site averages over 200,000 hits per day, but seems to be settling on around 20,000 hits per day in more recent times.

I'd appreciate any feedback from other members of this forum on your impressions about my web site.

    Best Regards, Lloyd.

I enjoyed poking around your site. I do like it.

Sorry to read the story of Danny and Jessie. I'm still recovering from the loss of my sheepdog a year and a half ago.

But sorry, Lloyd. It's two spaces for me, too.

Unless you'd like the advent of computer typefaces to obviate the need for that extra L in your name, too!

    See his blog for details.

I love that menu system. I've thought about putting that on my website before, but I've never gotten around to it. It seems like there's a way to make it transparent (see-through)...

Anyway, I like your site, although it's a bit bright for my tastes.

I noticed 'Babe' and 'Dead Alive' are missing from your DVD collection - two of my favorite films from down under...

    lloyd,

Very nicely done. Clean, quick, informative. I like the javascript drop-down menu but it does require js enabled. First try with my proxy filter and all your fancy coding got purged. Normal, enriched browsing worked well. The DHTML menu doesn't quite line up properly and some pages are worse than others. The forum seemed the most out of sync in Mozilla 1.7.1.

Oh, and I checked out your "Petals Around the Rose" game a few weeks ago. Lots of fun!

    Overall... judges?

    G'day Vin,

I guess I should add both Babe DVDs to my collection. Especially given that my brother-in-law's company did the lighting for both films. He has also done the lighting on other films like Mission Impossible 2, Moulon Rouge, and others too numerous to mention.

My sister worked on Babe as well, co-ordinating the crowd extras for the sheep dog trial scenes at the end of the film. In fact, they ended up with the mother of one of the litter of sheep dog puppies used in the film as their own dog.

Given the "dark side" look of your web site, I can see how mine would look bright to you.

The Milonic menu is available for free to non-commercial web sites. I've found it very easy to setup and use. Though I've not used too many of its extensive features, sticking to a fairly straight implementation.
