    Question Is this possible???

    confused:

I am still trying to pass commands to an application through perl system.

I need to open hyperterminal and then pass a series of commands to it.

It has been suggested to us socket or telnet but i have not been successful their either.

it seems to me in my old unix perl days we could do this ... is this a windows limitation???

    any help will be appreciated!

On JPC you need to use SSH to access the server's shell. SSH works exactly as telnet does, but behind the sceens everything you send over the network is encrypted for security. In order to use SSH you need to open a support ticket and ask for SSH to be enabled on your account. Then you'll need an SSH client. The most common one around theres days is probably PuTTY, which can be downloaded for free at http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/.
