    Question Error while transferring files

Periodically, I like to republish all of my files to make sure everything is on the server, and I haven't forgotten anything. My html editor has a setting to republish everything. I have a total of 2055 files to publish, and it is freezing up when I have 1800 left to publish.

I've tried manually publishing that particular file, and it works fine. I've tried removing that file from the list to be published, and it just freezes on the next file that comes up with 1800 left to publish.

It seems this must be a server problem, I have no idea what's happening other than I get an "There was an error in transferring...(name of file)" message.

I've checked my transfer settings, my firewall, etc., and everything seems OK. Has Jaguar placed a restriction on the number of files that can be uploaded or something? This has never been a problem for me before.

    Appreciate any help.

    Hi Andy,

We don't have any restrictions on the number of files you can upload at any given time. Perhaps try a different FTP client such as Filezilla, and see if you "freeze up" again. If the problem continues after trying a different FTP client, please open a support ticket so that we can get this resolved for you.

I have experienced the same problem extremely intermittently when publishing my websites from inside of my CMS.

When it is happening it is quite repeatable, yet on other days -- no tribble at all. I have not had this problem in quite a while now.

One thing that kind of pops into my head is "Passive Mode". See if your client is set to Passive Mode. If not, enable it.

I have NEVER had any problem using WinSCP, which is a free and secure way of copying files to the server (FTP sends your password across the 'net in the clear). Vin DSL has a tutorial on setting up WinSCP in the forums.

EDIT: As a matter of fact, the tutorial is a sticky at the top of this very forum.

@ Brandon: I did open a support ticket. Luke has been helping me with this, and has been very helpful and very fast with responses!

@ Ron: You are correct about the Passive Mode setting. I have never enabled it before, but tried it earlier today, and was able to transfer all files without any trouble. Thanks for the help!
