    POP reader?

Does anyone know if such an animal exists? I've got a couple of NON-Jaguar related POP e-mail addresses, and my girlfriend has a couple also. When we're on the road, it's a pain to go from webmail site to webmail site. Is there some sort of reader I can install on my website (here at Jag) where I can set up something I can configure to get all of our mail in one spot?

    Thanks,
    Sam

There probably is. I used to subscribe to a web mail service that could be set up to retrieve mail from other accounts. In fact I think you can do with with Yahoo mail. Might be wrong about that because I only log into Yahoo every few months.

How are you connecting to the Internet when your on the road? I traveled a 5 state area several years ago and carried a lap top with me, and checked with a e-mail client on the lap top. Earthlink had a 1800 number you could connect with that was reasonable in cost.

As Connie said, you can set up Yahoo Mail to check other POP accounts and I'd imagine some of the more robust webmail packages can do the same. Be aware though that they might delete your mail from the server and import it into their own system (for example, with Yahoo, it may pull mail from your external accounts into its system), so be sure to check the options carefully before you start relying on it.

Wow, you're right, Yahoo does allow that! I thought it would be a pay service for sure. I remember years ago Hotmail offered it and then they cut it out. I just assumed Yahoo would follow suit. The only minor negative, is that it does seem to combine it with the Yahoo mail so that when you reply, reply-to comes from Yahoo.

Connie: Yeah my girlfriend has her mom on Earthlink, so we just use that dialup. We've also started getting into the whole warchalking thing and getting our access that way.

Another good option, if you have your own computer that you're carying around, is to use a Windows (or Mac) based POP client. Most of them support multiple accounts these days. A good one that I used for years (and I think Connie uses now) was Pegasus Mail (www.pmail.com). It has a "multipop" module that lets you check as many POP accounts as you want and multiple identities so that you can control which account is sending your replies. It also supports multiple IMAP connections too, if you don't want to download all of your mail.

My employer switched over to Exchange about a year ago. At first it was only for email and they gave use IMAP access to the Exchange server, so I continued to use Pegasus. Then they took away our old calendar server and made Exchange the default, so I didn't have much choice but to switch to the evil Outlook. (Not that its a bad program to use, it's its history of insecurity that I don't care for.)
