    CMS options in JaguarPC

    Hi Developers,

After not finding a clue about the PHP nuke instalation error
that i got previously, i uninstall PHP nuke and
install PostNuke but now i get this error:

    -----------------------
ERROR 1064 at line 135: You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'CURRENT_TIMESTAMP on update CURRENT_TIMESTAMP,
    `pn_language`
    ERROR 1146 at line 1: Table 'myname_pnuke1.nuke_users' doesn't exist
chmod: cannot access `/home/myname/public_html/Postnuke/pmTemp': No such file or directory

    -----------------------

Which of four the CMS available in JaguarPC Control panel install
    without any problems at all?

XooP, Mambo, PHP Nuke or PostNuke?

If in the future i want to change to one or another
of these CMS, Could this be possible at all?

Thanks in advance for your answers!

Hmmm only one I've got available through cPanel is PHP-Nuke. Don't see XooP, Mambo or PostNuke. That said, you'd be much better off downloading your own copy of either CMS and install it independently of what cPanel can do. The versions you get through cPanel isn't always up to date in regards to bug and security fixes.

The CURRENT_TIMESTAMP bug is a result of PHP become a little more strict in regard to how it handles constants. This was an issue in PHPNuke versions installed by CPanel a few months ago. Basically, PHP patched a bug wich caused a bug to appear in PHPNuke. I suspect the same applies here. As Sara mentioned, not all servers have PostNuke available on them, so it may not be getting upgraded frequently.

I second Sara's advice: download the packages directly from the offical sites and set them up from scratch. It sometimes take a little more work, but you know that you'll be running the latest and greatest (and most secure) version that way.

As for switching, the setup of the databases from package to package is different, so switching from one to another is not automatic. Some publishers offer converters, though, so you might not be completely stuck.

This must be real culprit of this error...

I did this already with Moodle.
But for my site, i choose the open source portal "Mambo",
    that Cpanel installed without problems...

That could be a real problem. Nobody likes to get stuck in
a particular framework. I'll investigate this more before
getting too far using the open source portal "Mambo".

Thanks a lot for your answers, Jason!

That's very true, and that's why I've always been reluctant to use any of the various CMS's, blogs, or other widely used tools before. As a programmer, I've always felt I could do better by "rolling my own," but my time constraints often prevent me from doing that. I'm starting to experiment with a few of the better known tools now, such as converting my blog to WordPress, but I still remain reluctant to learn anything new if I feel that the project could simply go away in a year or whatever.

Thanks a lot for your answers, Jason!
    You're welcome. Anytime.
