    WebGUI

Anybody know anything about WebGUI? Is it possible to for a mere mortal JagPC customer to install and run WebGUI in a Jag hosting account?

I'm currently running Mambo, which I kinda like, but applications for it seem a bit limited. I've looked at PHP-Nuke, but it kinda scared me with all of the negativity in various forums about security. I also dabbled with CPG-Nuke, a Coppermine-centric version of PHP-Nuke, but I don't think it's supported anymore.

WebGUI seems to have everything I'm looking for, but the installation looks like it would be challenging. If it's possible under my account, I might give it a shot.

    Thoughts?

URL, I'm speaking out of total ignorance. I think if the server supports everything the program needs to run, you can install anything you want.

Look, at the risk of being immodest, I'm pretty much at the center of the Nuke universe. Hackers try to 'cap my a$% everyday, and I'm still online. The only time my site was defaced is when JagPC upgraded 'my' server to MySQL 4 without notification. I wasn't ready for it, and Persians hacked my site in no time (a couple of days, I believe). But, that wasn't PHP-Nuke's fault...

Secondly, I'm on the CPG-Nuke development team, although I haven't been active for like a year. No matter. They are still around. It called 'CPG Dragonfly' now.

The URI is still the same: http://www.cpgnuke.com/index.php

So, take your pick. I think you'll be happy with either one of them...

CPG-Nuke is actively support with the latest release not more than 2 weeks ago of Dragonfly 9.0

The old release CPG-nuke 8.2 was completely reworked which nessesitated the release change and also the a name change.

I'm active with the CPG group and personally use it on my dedicated box here at Jag.

OK, guys. I didn't mean to demean CPG. The last time I looked at it was last summer and I hadn't gone back to it after heading down the Mambo path.

I have a domain name which is mapped to my account here at Jag. I have a couple of other domain names that are mapped to subdomains to my primary account. I would like for a CMS to understand this and allow me to have just one install of the CMS core that supports my primary domain and my subdomains. I would also like for the CMS to allow me to have a separate look and feel for these separate subdomains along with separate content and separate user lists. Can Dragonfly do this?

Oh, someone should update the information on cmsmatrix.org. They still list CPG-Nuke 8.2b and they don't list Dragonfly.

    Thanks for all your help.

I tried running php-nuke before and I thought it was WAY more complicated than need be, not user friendly for me, and very bloated. But... thats just my 2 cents on it.

Yeah, PHP-Nuke isn't for everybody. Dittos for CPG-Nuke/Dragonfly. Then again, most ppl are stupid and lazy, so...

There is a certain magic to PHP-Nuke. I never could put my finger on it. If you're into cars, it's kinda like a '55-'57 Chevy, or maybe a '92-'00 Honda Civic.

PHP-Nuke isn't that great 'out-of-the-box', but it's easy to modify and its' potential is limited only by your imagination. CPG-Nuke was based on PHP-Nuke 6.5 originally (my favorite version), so it's basically a hot-rodded version of PHP-Nuke.
