    noob questions about oscommerce

    Hi,
I'm trying out oscommerce and don't have a clue about what I'm doing. It seems like the setup allows me to make some changes, but not as much as I'd like to. For instance, the opening page, I don't see any way to change its appearance. Am I stuck with the images and text displayed at the top? I'd like to put my own images and text there, but can't figure out how. I'm only going to have a couple items for sale, so I don't need the search thing. how can I get rid of that? And the general layout of the page, what if I want to move the menu boxes to the top or to one side? Please help me out.
    Thank you,
    Steve Shelby

In programming your not "stuck" with anything...

osCommerce in its defualt form is not very "newbie" freindly as far as changing the look and feel

I recommend going with a "loaded" version that includes a Template system

    try www.phesis.co.uk

Thanks for the reply. I've been looking at the osCommerce documentation and the files and it's way too complicated for me. The link you sent doesn't work, but I'll see if I can find phesis in google.

Thank you. I add it it to my favorites. After giving this some more thought, I've decided that for now, I don't need anything that big to do what I want to do. It would be like buying an entire warehouse to store a couple of chairs. I found out that 2checkout has a "plug and play shopping cart" which looks like it should do the job.
