    Subdomains. A bug?

When I try to add a subdomain in cpanel it automatically adds in my site address twice.
I enter 'www2' and instead of www2.lierox.net it turns into www2_lierox.net.lierox.net

    Why does this happen?

[edit] Sorry, can someone move this thread to "domains and the dns" forum.

Looks like something not right specifically with your CPanel. Best write a support ticket on this one.

    Hrm...

My guess (and I do mean GUESS) is that it might have something to do with some sort of software load balancing topology that they have in place here. 'www', 'www1', 'www2', et cetera, is actually part of your TLD, e.g. the host. So, maybe it's intentional.

    Interesting...

Not accusing you of anything, but I once made a subdomain similar to what you describe by accidentally typoing my complete domain name in the text box. It still exists in the CPanel and in some of CPanel's reports and subdomain features, but not others.

I have tried to delete them only to be greeted with an error. Response from support at that time was "maybe the next release of CPanel will fix it". I really could care less that these extra subdomains sort-of exist, so I've never followed up on it.

Actually, I hadn't looked in a long long time so I just checked and they are gone from CPanel now, except in two of the subdomain statistics areas, and that's probably jsut histerical.

Histerical data in your statistics? Ah; then I guess I'm not the only one who had all traffic listed thrice recently.

I think he meant psychoneurotic statistical datum. However, he probably didn't know how to spell it...
