Can someone translate my bandwidth from MB to GB, or provide some sort of info so I can do it? I've used 12136.01 MB thus far.

DISCLAIMER Any resemblance between the views expressed above and those of the owners and operators of this system is purely coincidental. Any resemblance between these views and my own are non-deterministic. The existence of Vin DSL is questionable. The existence of views in the absence of anyone to hold them is problematic. The existence of the reader is left as an exercise in the second-order coefficient.
Thanks Vin. That was my original idea, but I was under the assumption that this would only provide an estimate as 1024 bytes is 1kb. I'm not sure if that form keeps going so 1024kb is 1mb and 1024mb is 1gb.
Edit> That can't be right?! As of about 3PM today Jag sent an email notification saying that one of my domains had reached 80% of it's bandwidth limit which should be 1GB. The figure I posted above was from just now, about 4hrs later. There is no way it could have jumped that much!

Found a dandy calculator. See the revised post above...![]()

Same thing happened to me...Originally Posted by Raven

If I was you, I'd use the 'Disk Usage Viewer' in cPanel. That's the most accurate indicator. That'll probably show you where the 'problem' is.
Gotta run... BBL...

Well, I've opened a support ticket to find out what the problem is. I still don't see how logically it could have made such a jump though. I mean even if it does include a bunch of other stuff I'm not aware of, these things don't suddenly appear right?

Ummm....are we talking about bandwidth or disk usage here? I'm confusalated...Originally Posted by Vin DSL
Raven,
The same conversion factor holds true throughout the range of data sizes:
1Kb = 1024b
1Mb = 1024Kb
1Gb = 1024Mb
1Tb = 1024Gb...
The reason why it is 1024 instead of 1000 is because data is stored in binary units but reported in "normal" decimal units for human consumption (a value of 10111110001010 bytes wouldn't make much sense to you now would it?). 2^10 = 1024.
Well, Raven has a GigaDeal account, so I assumed he meant DU. His bandwidth is 45 GB, not 1000 MB - 1000 MB, of course, is his DU allowance.Originally Posted by jason
The bandwidth (so called) here at JagPC, is actually a measurement of file transfer, e.g. a device used for metering the amount of files that can be transferred per month. Accordingly, I assume the same mathematical rules apply to 'bandwidth' and DU, in this particular case.
Bandwidth, as far as I'm concerned, is actually a measurement of speed, e.g. the amount of time it takes to transfer a file from point-A to point-B. For instance, I have a module on my site that measures the bandwidth between 'my' server at JagPC and whatever computer I happen to be using at the time of testing.

Raven,
I wanted to follow up on your post. Has your support ticket been answered to your satisfaction? Perhaps give me the ticket # and I can run our quota fix script on your server. It may just be reporting incorrectly.

LoL! Now I'm confusalated...
For anyone following this disjointed thread, I made a correction above. It was 'Analog' stats that put me over the top, NOT 'AWStats.
Here's a thread discussing it, if anyone is interested: Deleting tmp/analog Files
BEWARE: If you have an active site, 'Analog' stats will eat up ALL your disk space, given enough time!

What's this "he" business? I'm a she gosh darnit!Hehe!
Thanks a bunch for all of your replies guys. I was pretty worried there for a while, but I think I've got the situation figured with support's help.
The account in question has an old v200 package, and I'm allowed about 15GB of bandwidth per month. That little detail I forgot the account specifications on. I thought I had a Gigadeal there where I'd only get 1GB of bandwidth. Hence why I was panicing when I discovered around 12GB of usage! The figures I was looking at were from the cpanel, and without a doubt accurate as support confirmed for me. When looking at my awstats about 15% of the usage was regularily being eaten up from MP3 downloads necessary for the site. There was no jump from 820MB to 12GB because the 80% I was using was 80% of about 15GB.
So, needless to say I've got everything sorted out ok now that I actually know what the heck is/was going on.Looks like I'll have to advise the band to purchase a few more GB of bandwidth to be safe, as they are getting more and more visitors to the site.
Brandon> Thank-you kindly for the offer, but support has already replied to my ticket. I'm very with the outcome as support was very helpful in finding out all of the information I was missing.

Why not just upgrade to the Gigadeal? It costs exactly the same as your v200 account and offers SO much more (including 3x the bandwidth). Upgrade from v200 to Gigadeal is free.Looks like I'll have to advise the band to purchase a few more GB of bandwidth to be safe
Sorry! All the 'Raven's' I've known, over the years, have been guys, until now...Originally Posted by Raven
No matter! As Galen said, upgrade to the GigaDeal - end of problem, yes? No?
I think, yes!
