DISCLAIMER Any resemblance between the views expressed above and those of the owners and operators of this system is purely coincidental. Any resemblance between these views and my own are non-deterministic. The existence of Vin DSL is questionable. The existence of views in the absence of anyone to hold them is problematic. The existence of the reader is left as an exercise in the second-order coefficient.
I have one of those automatic clocks (radio controlled) and the computer also corrects itself. Between those two, I get bye just fine
Edit: o wait.. you mean the one week difference.. right. Well, I am just pleased at least the whole of the EU is uniform these days; used to be much worseBut yeah, it is still confusing.

Yep!
I live in Arizona, and we do NOT have DST. Our clocks stay the same, all year 'round.
LoL! What I meant to say was, it catches me by surprise every time on 'my' server. I have to redo the offset in 3-4 different places, on my web site, to make it work right. As soon as the 'server time' switches seasons, my site gets jacked up...![]()

Here we go again...
Man, I hate DST!!! Why do gov regulators have to mess with time?![]()
When do the servers roll?
Do some, but not all, JagPC servers automatically adjust for DST?
Are the servers in Atlantla configured with the same GMT offset as Houston?

Your graphic is out of date now, Vin. Next year the US has further extended DST...
Yes, BushTime now...

Date change in 2007
On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.

I know they moved these forums to Atlanta a while back. In order for the times to display correctly, now that 'we' are off DST, I have to specify GMT -700 hours. It used to be -700 hours, for Pacific here in AZ (because we don't go on DST) -- now it's still -700 for Mountain. How can that be?
The server I'm on -- Kraken, in Atlanta -- is showing GMT -500. I guess that's right -- sounds right for Atlanta, anyway. However, that means I'll have to readjust all my scripts because of the move -- 'cause it used to be -600 -- and that's assuming the server is auto adjusting for DST.
LoL! What a mess...
*edit*
It's all good on Kraken! Sometimes I need a visual:

Now, I gotta go adjust my scripts. sigh...

Jag servers are usually on GMT time, I would think. If they aren't, you should use GMT time functions in your scripts and calculate the offset yourself. On the forum here, you have to check the box that says calculate DST offset and select the proper timezone.
yea, Indiana just passed DST last year, I give it about 1 maybe 2 more years before it is repealed again.
DST, waste of time and pointless
Well, there's a little more to it, for me!
First of all, I have to check the server offset. Actually, I put the server time/date/offset on my home page, in the member login area, but I always forget about it until I'm in the middle of checking everything...![]()
Using the current non-DST...
phpBB is pretty simple! Dittos for MSA and SmileTag -- just set them to the actual server GMT offset, -6 for Houston, -5 for Atlanta.
However, WinSCP is the difference between local time and server time, expressed in whole hours, -1 for Houston, -2 for Atlanta, et cetera. HostTracker is more complicated, -320 for Houston, -420 Atlanta...
And so forth, and so on, yada, yada, yada, et cetera, et cetera...
It's just a PITA twice a year, and for what?!?!?
