"Resin" -- possibility for JavaServerPages (JSPs) and Servlets?

I just ran across an open-source servlet engine called Resin.

It naturally enough promises to have superior performance, etc... I don't care about performance a whole lot. But to follow up on my prior whining for JSPs... perhaps it is MORE STABLE.

Jag people -- have you heard of this? Can you check it out? It's got downloadable linux install for apache if I read it correctly.

Has anyone heard about this servlet engine and is it better than Tomcat?

My understanding of the situation is Resin is better than Tomcat, but only marginally so. Where Resin starts to shine is in a standalone environment, i.e. each JagPC Apache web server would require two physical machines, e.g. servlets - one for HTML and one for JSP.

Is this your understanding as well?

I'm not terribly well-informed about it, at work I use larger-scale app servers for which I have no need in a personal hosting environment. But I thought I'd mention it as Jag (hopefully?) continues to develop possibilities for enabling JSPs in the standard gigadeal, I thought that this might be an option worth considering.

We might leave this to the vps accounts. That is if a client wants jsp they should get a vps and have it installed there. Im hearing that Resin is in fact preferred over tomcat by those who have used both before. I also hear that all forms of jsp are rather demanding on resources though and may not be ideal for a typical shared server. Maybe sitting aside a few limited shared servers like we do our semi-dedicateds and have jsp available. If we go that far though again pricing wise its almost best to use vps instead.
