I think that is the reason. You need to upload an index.htm page even if it is blank.

You need to use an FTP client to upload files to your site. There are many out there, try googling for one. Once you find something you like, use it to connect to your server (host is your domain name, username and password are the same as for CPanel) and upload all of your files to your public_html directory.

Ok someone please help! I've made a thread about this but no one is helping. In my forum at the bottom of the forum I press Go To Administration Panel. When I press it, it just takes me back up the site with no Administration panel. Whats going on?

demanding help will only get you ignored by most of us..

we dont get paid to help you, we are under no requirment to help you,

if you want to build a web site, and you dont know anything about building a web site I would suggest googleing for tutorials on building web sites.

most of use that come to these forums have years of building experiance, and if you have a specific question most will be happy to help.

Posting multiple topics and mutiple forums will only get people mad.

also expect someone to walk you through every step to building a site is unrealistic as well. Professional get paid good money to do that (some of us are said professionals )

but to awnser your questions from this thread

1> the Index of is a defualt file list. is displays all of the files currently in the root dir. of your site. the server is set up to display index.htm .php etc files by default. once you upload said file you will no longer see the file list.

2> to upload files you need to either
a> go to your Hosting Cpanel and click "file manager"
    b> get a FTP program
c> use windows built in FTP program

if you no sure on any of this USE GOOGLE for more info

    Happy,

With all due respect, I think we've given you a lot of help. All of your posts have been simple cries for help with no indication that you've done any research into the issues at hand and no background information about the problem. Simple questions like "why won't my forum work?" require more in-depth research than some of us can or are willing to provide.

Most of the regulars that post here are not affiliated with JPC in any way other than being hosting clients themselves. Many are consultants and web developers who set up websites for a living. Many of us are willing to share our experiences to help you get started. Some of us are even willing to go out of our way to troubleshoot a specific problem that we've never seen before, whether it is because we feel like being nice, we want the experience because it could help us in the future, or whatnot. However most of us are not willing to go on a wild goose chase to track down a problem when there is no indication that the person asking for help has already tried to solve it himself.

There are some people for whom I will do all of this--my clients that pay me for such services. If you'd like me to do this for you, please contact me privately and we can discuss it. The help won't come without a cost, however.

Another thing that irks people about your requests is that you ask for a fast response all the time. Again, everyone here is helping you out in their free time. When you're asking for free help, you have to expect that you won't get a complete answer right away--you'll get one, or a partial one, whenever someone gets around to it, if at all. When you are asking for free help you have to do so with the expectation that you'll never get an answer because sometimes you won't. Again, if you need to get your site running right away, contact me or one of the other consultants that's been replying to you to discuss a for-pay arrangement.

That said, I see that your forum is phpBB. Although there are several phpBB users that host here, this probably isn't the best place to ask for specific help about phpBB. There is a lot of help information and a phpBB-only forum on the official phpBB website at http://www.phpbb.com. I suggest you try searching the help there to solve your problems. If that doesn't help, search their past forum posts and if you still can't find your answers, ask on their message baord--but don't do this until you've searched everywhere you can first. This is proper forum etiquette and is expected on most forums, especially support forums like the phpBB one.

If this message sounds harsh, my apologies. However, I think I can speak for many of the regulars here when I say that our patience is starting to wear a little thin. Personally, I'm more than willing to go out of my way to help someone out, but the way I work is by teaching: I won't do the work for you (unless you pay me to do it, of course), I'll teach you how to solve the problem so that you'll be able to do it again, by yourself, next time. When I feel that the person I'm trying to help is not willing to learn then I stop teaching.

    Hi Happy,

If you're still having problems, I'm sure one of our technicians would be able to assist you in a matter of minutes by opening a support ticket. Just as a reminder, this isn't an official method of support. It is mainly for our members to get together for assisting each other and to share technical information.

My experience has been these ppl tend to be rude, impolite and hot-tempered. If you've seen the movie "Falling Down", you might remember a belligerent Korean storekeeper is the one that put 'DFence' over the edge.

IMHO, you're better off not wasting your 'breath' on a loser that posts links to homoerotic pictures in a public viewing area. If you haven't figured it out already, Koreans are the Mortimer Snerds of the Orientals...
