/tmp is no longer writable (our site is screwed and the control panel)

Apparently, some time today, the /tmp directory is no longer WRITABLE!!!

As a result, the control panel is screwed (lots of errors about [an error occurred while processing this directive]) along with our site which depends on some temporary files.

mysql reports the following error:

ERROR 1: Can't create/write to file '/tmp/#sql_2d4e_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13)

Our server is mercury.

Have you opened a support ticket. This sounds like a simple matter to resolve, but the forums are not an official support channel and you have no guarantee taht someone with the power to fix it will see it here. A support ticket on the other hand will give the techs immeadiate notice of the issue.

Ofcourse, already done that. No reply

Site is still down. Control Panel is still showing lots of errors.

I tested the mysql on the server by hand. It gives the same errors, can't write to /tmp.



grrrrr...

Problem solved. They changed back the permissions of the /tmp directory to writable and mysql is working again.
