It appears that somoene on the server is running dos attacks to other servers. We have blocked couple of IPs that we believe were involved in it. We are still investigating and closely monitoring it.
I contacted Tech Support about this nonsense, the other night...Originally Posted by masood

These 'internal DDOS attacks', if you will, seem to be affecting the whole network, not just individual servers.
Please correct me if I'm wrong - I'm just going by the 'signature' of ping results, and so forth - but that's the 'gut feeling' I've been getting...

I hope you catch those evil people. ;_; (don't understand what their doing except killing the server connection. ^^) Need more internet classes. ^^
*by the way, when was that top function denied in SSH?
*I'm learning unix right now, is the ssh thing the same?
Gold is under attack again... ;_; Network says http, ftp, and ssh is downed... whenever something like this happens, the forums load slow as well.. I don't know if that's just me...
Gold got hit again. ^^

Well, yes and no. What you are doing with SSH is making a connection to a remote machine. That server can be running any operating system, so long as has ans SSH server running on it. I run SSH on Windows machines so that I can connect to them remotely for administrative purposes while keeping the more notorious Windows ports (that all the worms like to prey on) blocked at my firewalls.Originally Posted by kiwi li
When you make a normal SSH connection you get a command line interface ino the server. In the case of JPC's servers, the OS they are running is Linux, which is a varient of Unix, so in this case you are using Unix (sort of) when you use SSH, but SSH itself is not Unix.
