I have a lot of spam in my guest book and its not very convenient to delete 10+ entries every day.

Look for a way to add a captcha / Turing test to the comment system. That stops the automated spamming. Any decent guestbook software offers one nowadays.

It would be helpful if we knew what guestbook software you're using. Its been a while since I ran a guestbook, but I know they have evolved quite a bit since the old Matt's script I used. I now run a WordPress-based blog that is starting to see a lot of spam, so I'm starting to look for a solution as well. In teh case of WordPress, there are several plugins available that combat spam wither by a user's action (such as CAPTCHA) or by filtering the content, much like SpamAssassin does for email. I wouldn't be surprsed if there was something similar available for your guestbook.
