    Network slowdown?

Wondering if there's a current network slowdown at JAG....

Both my site and this forum are slow for me, SSH is slow and jerky for me, and I have a report of slowness from Canada as well.

All other sites I visit seem fine.

Wondering if it's related to the announcement of network upgrades scheduled for tomorrow, or if it may be something else?

    Thanks.

It's not related to the scheduled maintenance tomorrow since that will be tomorrow. Send in a couple traceroutes to support and we'll look into any routing problems you may be encountering on the way to our network.

Yep, experienced the same thing from here at about the same time. I rebooted my firewall and router to update leases and reestablish a fresh connection but the problem persisted. The connection to my ISP's portal was crapping out too even after my reset. Checked Jaguar's server status and noticed that "Lead" was DOA, so I thought the delays at Jaguar were due to that server's ill health. However, Lead is still reporting sick but access has resumed to normal.

I'm guessing it was some clogged node on a major backbone that was the culprit though I didn't do any other diagnostics to verify. The problem seems to have dissipated on this end.

I noticed FTP slow down to almost a halt yesterday. I was uploading a couple of quick changes to one of my sites on silicon and FTP kept timing out for a couple of minutes. I didn't notice a problem with the web or with my mail, however.

Yep, definitely noticing this. It took a good minute or two just to bring up the reply page on these forums. All other sites seem fine, except for JPC (and my JPC-hosted site). Traceroutes show no problems, load averages on Iridium are a little high maybe (10.20, 5.09, 2.64) but nothing spectacular. Only thing I can think of is the MySQL server being bogged down?

    minotaur is slow too

I filed a ticket with a traceroute which has a timeout on it and tech support says it loading fine from here.

Yeah from there it's loading fine but from everywhere else it's not.

    Yep! Something is jacked up...

I tried to access my web site. Firefox couldn't find it. So, I logged in using SSH/SCP. Everything was there, so I tried Firefox again, and the second time it came up fine.

    Hrm...

I went back to SSH/SCP and WinSCP freaked out, like it got some sort of malformed data or something -- first time I've ever seen WinSCP go bonkers. So, I gave it the three-finger salute.

Then, I came over here. Firefox couldn't find JaguarPC either. After a couple of more tries, JaguarPC came up, but it's 'laggy' as all get out!

Now SSH/SCP can't find the host (my web site).

Anyway, all sorts of weird sh!t is happening over here!

    Check out this weird stuff...

BTW, I've been waiting for about 15 minutes to post this message - JagPC was timing out again!

Incidently, it took me about 10 tries to upload that graphic. I finally had to delete it, to get it to upload. vBulletin listed it as 'In Progress'...

Vin, it looks as if you must have accidentally hit Information > Display Access Keys on the Web Developer toolbar.
