    Installing software on Krypton

I'm very new to this, so please be gentle.

I'm attempting to install IceCast on Krypton, and running into some trouble. When I try to ./configure, it returns an error stating "configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check". After some Googling, I've discovered that this is a generic error message. Looking in 'config.log' I find what appears to be the source of the problem:

conftest.c:12:19: stdio.h: No such file or directory
conftest.c:13:23: sys/types.h: No such file or directory
conftest.c:14:22: sys/stat.h: No such file or directory
conftest.c:17: error: syntax error before '*' token
conftest.c:17: warning: `struct stat' declared inside parameter list
conftest.c:17: warning: its scope is only this definition or declaration, which is probably not what you want
conftest.c:17: warning: data definition has no type or storage class
conftest.c:46: error: syntax error before "FILE"
conftest.c:46: warning: `struct stat' declared inside parameter list
conftest.c:46: error: `pairnames' declared as function returning a function
conftest.c:46: error: syntax error before "int"

So my question: Is it even possible for me to install this software? Would I need to ask tech support to install it for me? Would they even do that?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

I don't know. Your errors so far seem to relate to the code you uploaded so far, so perhaps you can. However, a quick google gave me the impression that we're talking about an application that would permanently run in the background and such you may not install on a shared server. You need VPS or dedicated for that.

    So..

Yes, you should definately ask support, or else you might suddenly find your account suspended with a note to please contact them after all. Would they install it? I dunno.. depends much on how many resources it uses, how stable and risk free it is, how many clients would like to see it and how hard it is for them to set up and maintain.
