    Teamspeak Server Hosting

I understand that because I'm on a shared server I cannot run a teamspeak server with my account... so... due to the fact that changing the account to what I would need is a bit out of my price range is there anyone here that might be able to provide me with hosting or suggestions on other options?

Interesting! Maybe JagPC should look into this...

This isn't a smartass question... How much would YOU be willing to pay, in order to run a Teamspeak Server?

Maybe Jaguar could come up with an enhanced level of shared service, with relaxed rules and so forth, priced somewhere between X5 and VPS, or whatever -- let's say, double the X5 price. Get my drift?

Well, Jag does have a 'tiny' VPS at that price range (19.95), though it isn't advertised here on their own site.

I doubt they can do anything like that in a shared environment or they would already be doing it on the SDX plans. I suppose that in such an environment it's just to hard to ensure stability and security as well as share resources fairly. -> Try it and the account would probably have to cost (at least) the same as the $39.95 'real' VPS because of the attention it would need..

As for suggestions: aren't there some specific teamspeak hosts out there that give you an X amount of access to a teamspeak server for an X amount of money? I think $5-$10/month gets you a spot for your team on one of those.

You could run it on our discovery vps plan for $19.95 month. If you rally enough support from some others to justify a teamspeak hosting chat we can certainly sell you a chat channel on a teamspeak server we setup. We're all gamers here so we are familiar with teamspeak but becuase its more of a gamer thing we havent given any thought to hosting a teamspeak paid service.

    Or

Lease a vps from us and install teamspeak on it then you go and sell some channels yourself, turn it into a business.

Hey Jag, where is the info on this discovery VPS plan? I had a look in the VPS area and I didn't see any information on it. The price you quoted seems fair to me, as it is only an additional $10 or so from the Gigadeal plan I'm on now, so I'd like to look into this more.

What you suggested Wim is a good price range for me and what I'd be looking for. I just don't know where to turn specifically. I mean I'd rather it be with JaguarPC if I can because I'm familiar and happy with the service here. In the end I'd just rather give them the money if I can!

I've never seen it offered here on their own site but only in advertisements on webhostingtalk. I suppose you could still get it, or Jag himself wouldn't be confirming it out here. So, I'd either look up those advertisements or drop a mail to sales mentioning this.

it was in the ads on WHT but it was also in the order Form when you sign up

I checked that before I posted and it has been removed from the Order form

Interesting. I haven't seen it in the order form here. I did check at WHT later and though the special posted there is no longer valid by the dates given there, the URL still gives a version of the order form that offers it. Anyway, I don't think Jag will be dangling it in front of this guy's nose here and then refuse it when he wants to sign up. So where (else) it is / isn't offered doesn't matter all that much.

I am continuing to wonder though if you can really run an application like that successfully with so little guaranteed memory. I am afraid Teamspeak will simply crash when the server (the machine as a whole) has a busy moment that forces the VPS back to its guaranteed allocation.

I'd be needing about 50 people online at once to run end-game World of Warcraft material (40 man raids plus the random extras). That is at most though. I've got a couple people that I'm sure could handle setting up the server and configuration for TeamSpeak though if Jag could do it, hey why not?! I think I'll open a ticket about this and see what the turnout is.
