    Future migration problems?

Okay, this is not a current problem, but something I will be facing within the next month or so.

I have many accounts that are currently hosted under a bulk package that I am going to need to migrate to a dedicated box soon. My concerns:

Will installed scripts (phpBB, Nuke, ClientExec, etc) be transferrable?

What if I need to go somewhere other then Jag? Am I going to lose installations?

Any light shed on this subject would be greatly appreciated...migration scares the hell out of me!

Installed scripts should be fine, so long as the paths and databases that they use stay the same. Basically, if you keep your usernames the same and follow the same conventions for home directories (/home/USERNAME) and database naming USERNAME_DBNAME and USERNAME_DBUSER.

If you use CPanel on the new box then I think you can seemlessly transfer from one machine to another with a tool in WHM. If you aren't going to use CP on the new box then you have several other concerns, too: mail accounts and aliases, subdomain mappings in Apache, FTP user accounts, mailing lists, etc.

Thanks for the tips. I would likely stick with cPanel, so transfering should be easy.

    Thanks again!
