    Preventing hotlinking

I have added the "hot link protection" from my CPanel, to my web site. I placed an identical image in my file manager and the other in a sub folder in my file manager. When I tried to hot link the image inside the sub folder, I was able to get it. And, when I tried to link to it just in my file manager, it wouldn't let me hot link. I'm assuming that as long as I don't put anything in a sub folder, I'm protected? Anyone else have this problem?
    Thanks for your comments.

    Hi,

Ensure that you're not seeing an artifact of caching here.
The image may be in your browser's cache. visit the page, then clear your cache, then press the shift key while click on the browser's refresh button.

If that's not the problem, I don't know what it could be.

Patty I think you are confused as to what hot linking is.

I just did a google seach for hotlinking adn found this page:

    http://altlab.com/hotlinking.html

Read it and you will learn all about hotlinking.
