    Panther

I'm on Panther and for the past week my site's been up/down. At times it just loads forever, but it's mainly MySQL that goes down. I've ticketed Jaguar a few times and they've been great about it but never really answered my questions. I don't know if it's my site or the whole server, or the network. So is anyone else having slowdowns?? It's obvious to me that someone/something on the server is causing the rest of us to go down.

I'm on Panther too and I've noticed this as well. Both today and yesterday it's been unaccessibly from time to time. Since the Network Status isn't up yet I can't tell if it's just Panther or something else.

They had to do Emergency Maintenance on Panther last week:

Finally someone else is having this problem!

Are you having trouble just not connecting? Or does it also have to do with MySQL?

Mainly just connection. Both web and mail server. Usually it's up again in less then 10-20 minutes. For the past two days it's been better, so whatever it was, maybe it's fixed now...

Well, this is the third day in a row when Panther goes down. Even if it's just for 10-20 minutes, and support probably is doing all they can, it's still annoying.

    Panther down time

I'm getting really, really tired of this

There hasn't been more than 2 hours of uptime in a row for several weeks. The response from tech support is always "this has now been fixed, please try again."

Well, yes, it's been fixed. It's been fixed about a hundred times now. It's past time to stop addressing the symptoms and start addressing the problem.

This is on top of the machine being totally unusable for three full days because of a "disk full" error, which happened again the very next weekend.

Let's get on the ball, people.

Let me share with you one of the e-mails I've been getting from clients and people trying to use my site:

    From: $from
    To: me
    Date: Fri, 10 Mar 2006 12:26:03 -0500
    Subject: Kill your host.

    That is all.

    J

    I am growing very displeased.

There are about four sites which have outgrown shared hosting which are causing the problems and we are working to get them upgraded to semi-dedicated accounts. Once this is complete services should be back to normal.

Yes, this is very annoying. I'm on Panther as well and my site has been up/down for that past few weeks and it's very frustrating. I can't work on my site half the time because of this! Let's hope those sites get upgraded asap.

    AdrianB,

Are you documenting the initiation of down time? I'm starting to see a pattern according to your posts. Early morning (East Coast USA time) complaints. Is that when you observe the slowdowns, or just when you update this thread? If it is episodic, it could indicate a cron job with too much to do or out of control. Just a thought.

    threads merged.

I beleive this panther problem should be behind us. Im also working on some nice new tools that should proactively find and prevent this type of thing on all servers. I hope to have it deployed in April on the entire network.

Good to hear since Mercury also seems to have similar issues. For whatever reason the MySQL service dies.

Well, I think I posted at the time when it was actually down. And come to think of it, it's seems to been a pattern (especially recalling those times when it happened but I didn't post about it). I seemed to be happening around noon CET (central european time) every time.

Anyway, Jag says it's been fixed now and I haven't seen the problem again since then, so I'm happy again. (But it was annoying to see it happened so many times in such a short period of time.)

Is Panther having issues again? It went down yesterday and now it's been down for almost an hour today, so far.

Wow, I got an email saying there's hardware issues this time. That's nice (not the hardware problems, but the email report).
