    propagation wondering

    I pointed the dns to jaguar servers today, sorta mid-morning.

    The propagation is spotty, meaning sometimes I can get the site and sometimes not - same w/ the client. I've never seen propagation that was like this and wonder if its "normal", or if something should be done.

    Also, can't login to the client billing side. i'm onchameleon.nocdirect.com if that makes a difference.

    thanks
    Donna

    if it is a new domain (never had name servers attached to it) do a trace when it is unavalible and see if it is tracking right, if it is a old domain and you just updated the nameserver give it 48 hrs, it is probally a cache issuse

    thanks "the ancient" but doubt you're more ancient than me. Anyway ....

    its a "new" domain, purchased name through register.com so it did have register's servers attached to it but maybe that wouldn't count? This is the first time to host and activate it?

    i don't know how to do a trace. I have downloaded tracing programs before and played around with them, do you mean to use one of them? i'm not sure i would know what i was looking for/at though.

    if it was a new registar is should not have had any nameservers attached to it.

    Well you can use them, but windows comes with on

    Start->Run enter "cmd" press enter

    that gets you the comand line,

    type in "tracert DOMAINNAME.com" replacing "domainname" with the actual domain name

    that will trace the route from your computer to the domain name, varify the end point is on Jag Network AND pointed at the right server

    server IP can be found here http://www.jaguarpc.com/support/status.php

    if it is not, post the data to a trouble ticket and ask support to verify the DNS Zone File,

    Also check and make sure there are no misspelling in the nameservers you listed at the registar.
