    Question Shared SSL

I'm on the Longhorn plan and running the CMS Drupal. I'm trying to figure out how to (1) Log in to CPanel using SSL and (2) Log in to my Drupal admin account using SSL.

I know that I have to use the shared SSL cert. The URL was included in my welcome e-mail. However, that just takes me to a copy of my Index page that includes the content but not the Drupal format. Tacking :2082 on the end gives me a 404.

I've messed around with .htaccess, turned off URL rewriting, tried rewriting URLs based on ports, etc., but I can't seem to get a log in box. Any ideas?

forumer, i presume, however not sure, as i am not familair with the JPC setup that you should just replace the http:// with https:// the :2082 prefix is the http:// port for Cpanel, and has nothing to do with SSL certificates, if you search the https:// port for cpanel, this would be :2083

    Kindest regards,
    Patrick

cpanel is simple, remove the /~USERNAME/ from the secure address and change the port to :2083.

As far as drupal, You would have the change the configurations if you want to use the admin center under ssl, if you just want the login, you will probally have to change the login files to reflect the SSL URL.

    Thumbs up Thank you

Changing the port worked for CPanel. I am still working on Drupal, as it is a fairly complex system. I think I have some ideas now, though.

Let me give you a little tip...

    (2) If you want to run a CMS in SSL, do NOT use a shared cert. Some of your stuff will work, and some won't -- as you found out. I'm not inclined to go through all the reasons right now, mainly because, frankly, this topic bores me, but you can take it to the bank!

Shared certs work great for certain things, but CMS is NOT one of them...

Question Can I get my own cert?

After messing around more with .htaccess, config files, etc. I came to the same conclusion. The most difficult part seems to be redirecting the URLs through the shared cert URL.

So what would I have to do at JagPC to get my own cert? I don't care if it's official, just that I can trust it to sign in to my admin account with. I'm on Longhorn now and would rather not pay a lot more for one feature.

    Thanks for the help.

You will need to get a unique IP ($1/month or $12/year) if you do not have one, and can ask the tech support via ticket system to setup self-signed certificate for your domain.
