    help with video

    Hi all,

I have an avi file of about 1 minute that is huge - 140mb. I'd like to stream it on our web site but have no idea how. I'm guessing, even with streaming, I'll need to reduce the file size, but I don't know how to do that either.

Any help appreciated. I don't have any software. Someone gave me the file on a CD. Looking for a freeware solution if possible since this will probably be the only time I need to do this.

    Thanks!

What hardware and software are you using? That will determine your options.

The only way to effectively reduce the size is to compress the file (ie. convert it to mpeg).

I created an almost identical topic recently and got some very good answers.

In short, the easiest way to do it for me was to use Windows Movie Maker (which you'll have by default if you are using Windows XP SP2) to reduce the file size. You can probably get it down to 3-4megs at the 320x240 size.

This is the topic I'd created: (easiest) video streaming

    Thanks!

Thanks, Mike. That worked perfectly. I didn't even know I had Windows Movie Maker.
