Move didn't help Aries I see

Hmm. The move of DCs didn't help Aries one bit. This is getting a frustrating, to say the least. Anyone else have anymore cards up their sleeve?

Here is an idea - move the clients off Aries. THEN, do as JAG mentioned in the move thread....take it in the back of the building, gently pull back the hammer and pull the trigger. RIP

Frustrating is the least you can say. Server been on bad behavior since i arrived... going to make now 1month... The last week or so was the worst.

But, worst then that is reporting the problem several times and getting the answer that all is well.. no explanations..

You can noticed that i am far from happy and considering a move away from JPC. All the references i read, and they were many, got me the impression that something like this didn't happen here.

Anyway, i am going to switch my anger off for a little while to see what they can come up with!!!

    Cheers,

It didnt but we've begun the hardware rebuild process on it. It'll be a new machine soon. All the up/down activity dropped a drive from the array but raid10 did its job and in the midst of the other swaps we're doing we also replaced the bad drive. Perhaps that disk was slowly failing without giving up its secrets in dmesg somehow contributed to the problems.

I just wish you all at JPC good luck with this server, and really hope all stability issues are solved for good.

My only luck in this is that i didn't move my clients over here yet, but the 1st month image i have from JPC is really bad. Maybe i was unlucky with the server, but, that i will see in the next month.

    Cheers and best wishes,

    Carlos Santos

Just curious. Have you considered the fact that your site might have problems?

I understand the frustration when a site is down. The last time I had any major problems was when Jag moved everything to Houston.

Unfortunately moves do not always go as planned. There is an old saying in the US. "The best laid plans of mice and men often go astray". I guess another way to say this is "Murphy's Law" will likely rule.

Either way sh*t happens. Bit**ing may make you feel better but it will not help resolve the situation.

Now what I would appreciate from Jag is a list of sites that have been moved to Atlanta. I have e-mail in regard to two sites that are on shared servers that indicate they are now in Atlanta. Could be a mistake, but I would like to know.

Why start a new thread? It would probably be more beneficial if all comments were kept in the same thread.

Right now I see 2 other theads in regard to Aries.

When i complain about IMAP4, FTPD down or server unreachable, its a clear fact that my site is not the issue.

Also, as stated on my message, the only piece of good luck i had in the middle of this was the fact that none of my clients being active on this new hosting.

Anyway, my big problem is not all about the downtime. I reported errors and high server load on Aries since more then 3 weeks ago (as any Jag tech can certify from my opened tickets), and not once i complained in public. The thing that really pissed me was the answers i was getting from tech support.. Everytime they ended in "all is ok now" but didn't send any explanation on what happened, and why they didn't detected it....

My first server load report dates from 1-6-2006, followed by another on the 7th, then 14th, 23, 25 and 28. And that was because i was way most of the time and not monitoring the server. My hosting at JPC started at the 29-5-2006, so you can see that i have not been getting a good experience.

I know i am venting some frustration, but i think there is a flaw somewhere in tech suport not explaining what happened, even when directly asked.

    Cheers,

    Carlos Santos
