    Poseidon running very slow

Anybody else running on poseidon? For the past few hours it has been running like a dog. 30+ seconds to serve requests with about half the requests timing out. Just curious.

    Ooooooooooooooopen a ticket with support.

Include a traceroute from your PC to your server.

Was i asking for tech support? Actually i wasn't in case you need clarification. All you would have to do is READ my actual post in which I asked if anybody else was running on Poseidon. Your smart ass response had ZERO to do with my original post. FYI, I oooooooooooooooooooopened a support ticket, i was just trying to get some additional info as i posted the original message about 4 hours after I opened my ticket with Jaguar. Is that okay with you?

Turns out it was DOS attack which happened to occur at almost the exact time in which i drastically changed the php database class that my site runs off of. I was wanting to see if anybody else was running on poseidon to determine if it was specific to only my site or the entire server. Like I said, i had ooooooooooooooooooopened a support ticket 4 hours earlier and hadn't recieved a response which was understandable considering it was a Sunday.

I'm sorry you found my suggestion irritating.

Next time you might try posting something like:
I've already opened a ticket but it has been 4 hours, and I'm wondering if any body else having this problem?
You know, actually give people who are looking to help something with which to work. There are probably 10 posts from newbies every week in this forum wondering what to do about an issue with which nobody but support can help them.

But then again that's probably way to much to expect, especially since it took you 4 days to figure out that someone had replied to your post.

Finally, I really didn't need you to send me a PM with a link to this thread to show off your wittiness, it speaks for itself.

Yeah, next time mention that you already opened a ticket and I think you will have a much better response from the locals.

I'm not on Poseidon, so I didn't feel the need to reply earlier.

I'm getting downloads of around 4kb a second from my account on posiedon.

Not on really, it seems that something is wrong at least once a week. Out of interest, how many users are they stuffing onto one server?

Yup, I feel your pain too. Posiedon has had a ton of downtime lately. I submitted this ticket to support earlier -

As a write this message, Poseidon is completely down.

In the last few days, our monitoring software on the server has detected some very serious lengthy outages.

    2006-09-13 21:40:57.
Url was down as a resultat of:
    Http error:Http_client.No_reply
Error was detected at 2006-09-13 18:41:05
    Downtime total 2 hour(s) 59 min(s) 52 sec(s).

    2006-09-12 17:14:37.
Url was down as a resultat of:
Http error:Http_client.Bad_message("Unknown reason (e.g. unexpected eof, timeout)")
Error was detected at 2006-09-12 17:07:52
    Downtime total 6 min(s) 46 sec(s).

    2006-09-12 14:35:42.
Url was down as a resultat of:
    Http error:Unix.Unix_error(_, "check_connect", "www.gamingexcellence.com:80:No route to host")
Error was detected at 2006-09-12 13:32:14
    Downtime total 1 hour(s) 3 min(s) 27 sec(s).

    2006-09-09 06:24:53.
Url was down as a resultat of:
Http error:Http_client.Bad_message("Unknown reason (e.g. unexpected eof, timeout)")
Error was detected at 2006-09-09 06:18:19
    Downtime total 6 min(s) 35 sec(s).

That is 4 outages, combined total of about 4hours and 10 minutes in the last 5 days. And those are only the ones that registered with our service tracker.

The reply I got from support was...

"There was a user running proxy script on the server loading it and causing problems. We have suspended the account and the server seems stable so far. "

Since then, the server was down AGAIN - this registered on our service tracker...

    2006-09-14 14:13:27.

So bring that total to about 5 hours and 10 minutes in 5 days, consistently down, this is beginning to be unacceptable as that's only about 96% uptime, and it's been going down in the highest traffic parts of our day.

I was recently moved away from Gold due to the fact that the e-mail server on Gold couldn't seem to stay up for more then a day at a time, and now this. Wonderful.

I've been with Jag forever now, since the days of Aletia, but this is getting to the point that it's even pushing my limits of what I can take.

We identified yesterday a user running proxy script on poseidon loading the server to the point of crashing. The account has been suspended and poseidon has been running fine since then.
