    Interesting question!

I don't *think* they'll allow you to run vent, but...

The Chief says no to vent on a reseller account, so I assume that means no on shared and semi-dedicated too -- probably yes on dedicated and VPS -- but that's just a *guess*...

    Hi BernardBlack,

Vin is right, we do not allow running Ventrilo servers on our shared servers.

Aww is there a reason? Too much bandwidth or high security risk or something?

    Oh well, worth a try

    Thanks,

The reason is mainly due to a shared hosting server plays host several hundered clients and processes running continuously running in the background can contribute greatly to server load and cause problems.

Oh I see. Fair enough but at VPS + Dedicated level you can host whatever you want, correct with "root" access?

    Yeah, that's my understanding...

I don't know how the hell you would install vent on a shared server anyway, considering most ppl are jailed.
