Port 80 httpd out of comission for some periods. Anyone?

Hi,

I started an outside monitoring station to check the response from the server i am on, and for the last 2 days i have been observing random downtimes on port 80 from 5 to 20 minutes.

On those ocasions all other ports were available, like 21, 110 and cpanel ports. Only the httpd por was down

Anyone having problems like this?

Note: In one of those ocasions i tried access to port 80 by IP address and got response... so my idea is that some DNS problem is happening here.

DNS as a port specific problem? Not heard of that before. You could monitor by IP too though and see if the results differ. If they do, it's DNS indeed.

You do want to try both name and IP in the same way before drawing conclusions. If you don't, too many other factors can be at fault.
