    FIVE Servers Down

    G'day,

The following five servers have been down for hours now, and no word from JaguarPC as to why, or when they'll be back up.

    excelsior.nocdirect.com
    freedom.nocdirect.com
    nickel.nocdirect.com
    optimus.nocdirect.com
    viceroy.nocdirect.com

    Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

    Yeah,

After about 4 hours being down today, freedom.nocdirect.com is now just back up. Well done JaguarPC! Go team!

This server was also down for about 1.5 hours yesterday.

Will the reason forever remain a mystery? Can I expect more down time tomorrow? One can only hope not.

And to think, while it was down, I suggested to yet another organisation that they sign up for a JaguarPC hosting account. Maybe I should be questioning my sanity?

    Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

    G'day,

I has seen that post. But it read to me as if the DOS should only be effecting one server, not five of them.

    Best Regards, Lloyd Borrett.

    LB,

I'm thinking the servers may be OK but the network coming into them (or the routers handling heavy traffic) are were too busy to service legit traffic. Perhaps your issues were secondary to the primary target. Ultimately, every server getting packets on a shared cable are effected even if they are directed at a different netblock. I don't know the topology, but a busy router could delay a lot of packets to the point of apparent failure due to timing out.

None of those servers went down, it seems a few ips in the range 69.73.173 were blocked by the dc during the DDoS attack, probably thats what you noticed.

Well it was the JaguarPC status page that was telling me those five servers were out of action for all services.
