    Question On Clocks...

What's the deal with the clocks lately?

Example: I have some timers on my site using proc for input, and a LOT of the time I get negative times, like, -1.0 seconds.

Example: Or, I'll do a search in these forums, and it says I can only do one every 10 seconds... and, that I need to wait 28 seconds before the next search.

    Yada, yada, yada...

Anyone else taking note of all this

If you'll pardon the pun, I'm at a loss!

How can a timer stop before it starts?

Let's say you start a timer in a header, and stop it in a footer -- and you get a negative number. How can the timer stop before it starts?

This doesn't make any sense to me...

This on a VPS, Vin? I've had problems with clocks jumping in large (+12 hours, then readjusting) and small (+1 or < +1 minute). This has been on and off for 2 or 3 months, but it seems to happen a lot more in the last month. (I have cronjobs that email me every 15 minutes, easy to tell when it's not on */15 division.)

After a quick look at the "built-in" cronjobs, the VPS software has its own job to sync the clock with some other (haven't bothered to look at where it syncs to). Might be able to fix it by disabling that job as root and using ntpd instead (but that has its own problems with crackers being able to inject the wrong time, from what I've read).

Obviously, if this isn't for a VPS, this doesn't apply to you.
