how to transfer site - old to new host

I have an existing domain www.domaintest.com registered at ukreg.com and being hosted by XYZhost company.... I planned to transfer hosting this site to my new JPC discoveryVPS with Interwork Control Panel (ICP)

Using ICP, I successfuly added new account entering domaintest.com and have uploaded all necessary files... For now, I did not modify the DNS of domaintest.com at UKreg as I want to first preview if all files are working OK in the new JPC-VPS server. So basically the domain still pointed on the old host.

The question is how could I preview the new site/files I have just uploaded in the new server. What should I enter in the browser URL bar?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Try something like http://xx.xx.xx.xx or http://xx.xx.xx.xx/~acct, where the xx's refer to your VPS's IP address and "acct" referes to the user account where you set up the site. For example, if you created a user account named tango and uploaded the files to /home/tango/public_html then try using http://xx.xx.xx.xx/~tango.

I'm not sure if this only happens in IE or if its a server issue but you need to have a lead slash "/" when working with an IP address and a ~.

    So:

    127.0.0.1/~domain/

Otherwise you will get a page can not be displayed error.
