Question Using 3rd party nameservers with shared

Hi, I've just opened a shared hosting account with JPC.

I have a series of minor domains that I want to move to the JPC system, and I'm using mainly GoDaddy's DNS service (Total DNS Control etc).

CPanel doesn't allow me to configure the domains because it detects they exist. Is there a way to use third party DNSs?

If not, what is the sane thing to do to MOVE existing websites to JPC structure if I only can create the multihosted domains on my account AFTER I changed nameservers on the registrar?

    Thanks in advance, best regards,
    Andres

Cpanel in their Infinate Wisdom put this check in there, the best way, if you want to continue using 3pp DNS is to do the following

1> Create the subdomains for the Sites you want to MultiHost
2> Open a Ticket and tell support which names to map to which subdomain
3> Change the DNS at your 3pp provider

So I create a subdomain for each site.
Ask Support to "convert" them in domains.
Modify A, MX, whatever records on GoDaddy's NS to point to my JPC account's IP.

And that's it? is there a cost per ticket or something?

    Cheers, Andres

yes, but I would not use the word "Convert" the exact wording should be

"Please point example.com to subdomain example"

there is no charge for that

When JPC sets up the multihosted domains for you they also create a DNS zone for that name automatically. So you could point your domain name at the JPC nameservers too, if you wanted.

His orginal Post asked for a way to do this without using JPC nameservers, Personally I recommed Using 3pp DNS when ever possible.

    Diversification is a GOOD thing

Yes, using 3rd party DNS is no problem as long as you know what you are doing
