    I'm concerned about Neon

I've been on Neon for several years, and overall it's been pretty stable, and downtime has been minimal. Yet over the past 6 months or so, there seems to be a problem with Neon. When I publish updates to existing pages, I can tell that it takes longer than it used to most of the time. Pages seem to load slower than before. Sometimes, it's still very fast, but the change is most obvious when I'm updating 30-50 files, then it's noticeably slower and stalls out much of the time, which requires me to start the FTP process again.

I know it's not my internet connection, as I'm on high speed cable, and it's been upgraded to a faster speed during this period.

Google Webmaster Tools frequently list active URLs on my site as "Network Not Available" which concerns me since that can't be good for my rankings in Google (this has a negative impact on Google's "Trust Rank" of a site when a site is not available on a regular basis). I've had as many as 25 URLs listed as Network Not Available in a one week period, which cannot be good.

The Disc Space Available in CP never updates. Not in months. I can reduce the HTML on multiple pages, change images, add pages, etc., and it is always exactly the same. This did used to update immediately, and now it never updates unless you open a support ticket, then it will update once and not again. Now support says it takes too much server resources to update, so it's rare that it runs.

I've had others check my site when I can't get it to load, I'm in the midwest, and someone in California, another in Florida, and a friend in New York check as well, and it's not available to anyone, so that tells me it's not an internet problem, computer problem, ISP, etc., but a network or server problem.

Has anyone else noticed any issues with their sites on Neon? I'm reluctant to move, as it's always a hassle and something always gets messed up along the way.

Thanks in advance for any input.

over the last month or so jag has been move most of the old servers to Atlanta. Are you sure your not amidst that move?

Verify your email accounts in your client control panel are upto date as that is the only notifications they send out.

Personally I wish they would have left well enough alone, I do was happy on my older box but they were insistent on "making things better"

However I am a firm believer in the "if it's not broke don't fix" method

Yes, my E-mail info is current.

I haven't heard anything about everyone being moved. When was this announced?

they are doing it on a server by server basis, there was no global announcement, when/if your server is to be moved your get a email about 2 days before the scheduled move time

Neon has been down most of the day, I would count support

I have a ticket open with Emergency status, but they haven't looked at it yet.

I've kept the same ticket open since early January, so there's a running record of the downtime.

If Neon is becoming unstable, (and it seems like it is), I hope they'll bump the switch over up a bit.

I used to be on Neon. Ask for your account to be moved to an Altanta machine!
    Good luck

I do have a ticket open, and it looks like Neon is back up again. For now.

Yes, as Ron said, please open a support ticket to have your account moved to a new machine in Atlanta. Neon will be upgraded but it may take a few weeks.

I got an e-mail on the 16th of Jan telling me about the move. On the 25th I got an email with the details of the move. Seems like there was a notice in the forums about the move.

Point being I don't think they are going to move you with just 2 days notice.

Eh.. what's going on? Shouldn't there be some general announcement on what's going to be done, rather than just two day individual notices?

Moving at the least means new IPs, resulting in DNS updating issues / people reaching old versions of a site (which can be quite a nightmare with all the dynamic stuffs like forums and such), quite possibly a few things more due to slight configuration differences between old and new. If that's going on on a large scale and all planned changeover, like the PHP-CGI/MySQL4.1/Courier thing, where's the info?

Oh, and why? I'd like to stay put too, actually. Please at least TRY to convince me , rather than just move me over.
    Regards,
