Fantastico won't/can't upgrade TikiWiki to latest version

Fantastico says it will install TikiWiki 1.9.7 but it actually installs 1.8.6.

It also says it'll upgrade the installation from 1.8.6 to 1.9.7, seems to go through the motions, but the result is still 1.8.6, post "upgrade."

What gives? Anyone else have this issue?

    Any feedback appreciated.

Like the_ancient said, Fantastico isn't so fantastic. It's a good tool to check out some applications, but if you seriously want to work with any of them go to the developer of said application and install on your own as well as run the updates whenever there is one. Don't rely on automated programs to do it for you.

If it was me, I'd just do the upgrade manually, as Sara said. That is, go to the TikiWiki site, download the upgrade, and do it yourself.

Um... Just thinking... You said it's going through the motions, right?

I've been playing around with Wikis the last couple of days, and they seem to make V heavy use of caches. At least that's the way MediaWiki is. I assume all the others do the same thing.

Because of the caching, I've noticed that each and every change I make requires purging the cache[s] before ANY changes take effect.

So, I think the first thing I would do is purge your cache[s] -- including the temporary Internet files in your browser. It's very possible the software HAS been upgraded, but your cache[s] are still reflecting the old version.

Then, again, I'm still in the learning phase...

You have got to be kidding me, I guess Post Nuke, PHP Nuke, Dragonfly, etc etc etc all have the same performance and coding since hey all "do the same thing"

    All *Nuke Sucks.....

Worst CMS err Portal, err what ever the "cool" phrase of the day is, ever created....

However they are not the same, they may have the same core, but there are some vast differences in the projects. If they were all the same what would be the point

Why try to set anyone off?

I think you will find that those kind of post and or comments are living on borrowed time.
