    Hi,

Yes you can configure samba over the internet. By default browseable option is enabled on server so we just have to do the basic configuration. You can access it as http://Ipaddress/sheared_directory.

    Tom,

I recently had the Samba server enabled on my VPS to act as a common file server for a number of my staff that work at different locations.

With a little bit of fiddling and reading some documenation on samba.org was able to get the hang of it (with some assistance from Tech Support to get it setup and running properly).

If you are using Windows, then it is pretty easy to map a network drive to the directory or directories that you want to use/share on the VPS via Samba.

Now any of my staff can upload or dowload documents and files that we are working for various clients & projects instead of emailing them to each other all the time. We just use refer to whatever directory the file is stored in.

    Andrew.
